Kanu to reclaim ‘grabbed’ property
Former ruling party Kanu has vowed to reclaim its property, which was allegedly grabbed by former officials after it was dislodged from power.

Party Secretary General Nick Salat said the party was in the process of instituting legal measures to ensure that the assets are recovered.
He said that some of Kanu’s property was in the hands of Government officials who shifted with assets after ditching the party.
“We will ensure that all the grabbed party property, including those in the hands of senior Government officials, are returned,” said Salat.
Supporters of the party and those from rival parties have on occasions clashed over the ownership of various assets. At its height in power, Kanu boasted of property worth billions of shillings — including the Kenyatta International Conference Centre that was later repossessed by the Narc Government.
On the coming General Election, Salat maintained that the party would not enter into any political alliances and instead would go it alone.
Recruitment
During a meeting with party officials from 14 counties in Rift Valley that was held in Ngata, Nakuru, Salat said they had embarked on a major recruitment drive to popularise the party and ensure it complied with the Political Parties Act.
The meeting was presided over by party National Vice-Chairman Gideon Moi. Kanu national officials said the party would field a presidential candidate and offer candidates at the national and county levels.
Salat noted that the party was busy strengthening and popularising itself at the grassroots and it had no intention of joining the PNU Alliance. He said the party would retain its identity and dismissed claims that there were plans to change it name and symbols.
Salat said party National Chairman Uhuru Kenyatta would soon launch the party recruitment drive in Nakuru as the party strategised for the elections.
Among those at the meeting included party Organising Secretary Justin Muturi and former MPs Zipporah Kittony, Paul Sang, John Koech, Ezekiel Barngetuny and Joseph Lotodo.
