Poem of the day : Introspections and Retrospections
Poem of the day : Introspections and retrospections
Written by ziewornu-Norvor Woelinam Kurt
A year is dead alas!
my heart beats in anticipation for dawn;
a dead year full of regrets.
dreams not materialized
opportunities gone past like a capricious whim
bitterness and guilt flow like rivers
a year full of heart breaks,
daddy and friends lost like vapour
life, will you not give us what we desire?
why give us misery, pain and hunger?
it is a means to an end I guess and we must convert to glory
so in this day i shall strive to
kill the bitterness buried within my soul
look my foein the eye and bite the dust
smile and say sweet words
I have been blinded too long by bitterness
and my own achievements I fail to realize.
to the forgotten heroes, I forgive you
to those that linger, forgive me
in this day I relinquish the madness
the youthful exuberance of orgies,
over indulgence in cursed dances.
good bye to toxic friends and relationships
this dawn as I puff my last of this Cuban cigar,
gulp the last drop of scotch
my inconsistencies run with the wind
my philandering manifestations I halt
and will look at posterity with optimism
relinquish the bitterness with my father for no getting me a car;
I shall disdain till eternity
dreams of becoming a physician dashed;
I still have hope that it is well;
we shall not falter nor fail in this revolutionary metamorphoses
we shall dream for life without dreams is a bird without wings
this dawn I stand in my father’s house
in submissive supplications
pleading to wipe my subluxations
my fooleries gone with my voice
I rededicate my allegiance to my father
I shall give without asking
love without hate and clothe my neighbour
today I can call myself legacy,
and I come from conception and glory
where do you come from?
today I realized that I am an empty shell
waiting for the divine to fill me whole;
life is short and rough,
live it like there is no tomorrow
there is no turning back
leave yesterday and make today count.
I love God and if loving him aint right,
then I don’t want to be right.
this is my due to a great father
tell me yours so we can celebrate his splendor
